Kevin Nash wrestling in Japan in two weeks time

Last month, Kevin Nash revealed in his controversial Grantland interview that he won't walk away from the wrestling business until the money offers dry up. That day hasn't come quite yet, even though WWE has so far wisely ignored all his rather desperate attempts on social media to lobby for another comeback, and TNA, in cost cutting mode again, aren't showing any interest in his services either.

That's because, All Japan Pro Wrestling, wanting a big name foreigner at short notice to team with the legendary Keiji Mutoh, aka The Great Muta, for their next major show on September 23rd at Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium, gave Nash a call and he inevitably accepted. They will face Hawaiian veteran Taiyo Kea and rising star Seiya Sanada in a special attraction match that they'd be heavily expected to win, but may be bowling shoe ugly, given how broken down both Mutoh and Nash are.

This is already being mentioned as a meeting of nWo (Nash) and nWo Japan (Mutoh). The announcement for Nash coming in to compete came out of nowhere, but Keiji Mutoh has recently been doing advertising for Nash's films when they come to Japan, and Nash contacted Mutoh and said he wants to fight in Japan. Mutoh wanted to make it happen as Nash has been a big name with pro wrestling, and the idea of Mutoh & Nash teaming is something that could carry a nostalgic / legend feel.

If the story about Nash contacting Mutoh to look for work is true, then Big Sexy may have spied an opportunity for a big payday, when Ric Flair turned down the spot of being Mutoh's partner on the show, as Dave Meltzer reported in the subscriber only Aug 27 Observer Newsletter:

Keiji Muto made a pitch to do a tag match with Ric Flair as his partner on a 9/23 show, but with All Japan in the state it is, the sides couldn't come to financial terms, as the most they were willing to offer for the fight was $15,000.

I can't see Nash ever turning down $15,000 for one match, can you? So Nash steps in to save the day, but whether he will be worth that princely sum remains to be seen.

It will be Nash's most high profile match since losing to Triple H in his WWE swan song at the TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view on December 18th, 2011, but not his first match back, as he's done some minor league independent dates since then. I doubt this will be the last time we see him in a wrestling ring again.
