Thomas P. Connelly, D.D.S.: A Makeover Story: Johanna

I talk a lot about general dentistry topics, and indeed, I do handle all general dentistry issues. But in reality, I am more of a cosmetic dentist than anything. This means that while I do plenty of routine dentistry, I do even more veneers and crowns.

Some people think cosmetic dentistry is something that only movie stars get to enhance their smile. Truthfully, that's far from the reality -- while I have done plenty of stars' and athletes' teeth, many of my patients are everyday people who are simply looking to have a better smile. And in some cases, their smiles are so bad they are inhibiting their lives -- such is the story in this short video.

The video is about Johanna York, who came to me with a mouth that was ruining her life. She was ashamed of her appearance, and that affected every part of her day. It affected how she dressed, where she went, how she interacted with people, etc. Looks are important to us, and for Johanna, it definitely began with her teeth.

I'll let the video tell the story, but suffice to say, the before and after (complete with new hairstyle and makeover by associates Ted Gibson and Jason Backe) is simply incredible. You can really see how a new smile can affect one's perspective on everything.

Don't just look at her smile in the before and after sequences -- look at her eyes, her radiance, her very essence... That's the key, and the true end result I'm after.
